At the center of this vision is the Esprit Recreation Center — Chicago’s first wellness and recreation hub built specifically for veterans, disabled service members, and their families. This facility will serve as the launchpad for all our programs, creating a safe, supportive space to move, heal, connect, and grow. From fitness challenges to community events, every activity will be hosted in a space built for purpose and belonging.
The Esprit Recreational Program exists to reintroduce structure, community, and challenge into veterans’ lives. By blending outdoor adventures, group fitness, and team-based sports, we offer a path toward physical wellness, mental strength, and social connection.
Our program is intentionally inclusive, welcoming spouses, dependents, and supporters to participate and build lasting bonds across communities.
Adventure Days
Group outings like hiking, kayaking, obstacle courses, and rock climbing — combining physical activity with personal growth and peer connection.
Veteran Sports Leagues
Seasonal leagues in soccer, softball, and similar team sports that promote teamwork, accountability, and healthy competition.
Fitness & Wellness Challenges
Programs such as the Murph Challenge, ruck marches, and lifting events — hosted at our facility and open to all skill levels. These events help participants set goals, push limits, and celebrate achievement.
Group Workouts & Gym Meetups
Veterans and supporters will have access to open gym hours, personal development sessions, and group workouts hosted at the Esprit Recreation Center.
Veterans often lose structure, identity, and camaraderie after leaving the military. Our recreation program helps restore these elements through movement, connection, and challenge.
The Esprit Recreation Center makes this possible year-round, providing not just events, but a permanent home base for wellness, belonging, and growth. Dependents and civilian allies are also welcomed into the mission, strengthening bridges and creating new pathways to understanding and support.
